About

I'm a board-certified psychiatrist with a focused practice in psychiatric polypharmacy optimization and deprescribing.

Most psychiatrists are trained to add medications. I'm trained to evaluate whether you still need them.

Over years of treatment, patients often accumulate medications — an antidepressant added during a difficult period, an anti-anxiety medication for sleep, a mood stabilizer "just in case." This is called a prescribing cascade, and it happens more often than anyone admits.

My practice is dedicated to carefully evaluating each medication, identifying drug interactions you may not know about, and creating a safe, gradual plan to reduce unnecessary medications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance?
No. This is a direct-pay practice. I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement, but I do not bill insurance directly. Insurance doesn't reimburse for the time this work requires — a proper polypharmacy evaluation takes 3+ hours. I choose to do the work correctly instead.
Will you be my psychiatrist?
No. I'm a consultant. I evaluate your medications and create a roadmap. For ongoing psychiatric care, you'll need a separate treating psychiatrist. I can help coordinate with them.
Is deprescribing safe?
When done correctly, yes. The key is gradual reduction with close monitoring. I use evidence-based tapering protocols, often with compounded medications for micro-tapering.
What if I still need the medications?
Then you keep them. The goal isn't to get you off all medications — it's to make sure each medication is serving you. Sometimes the answer is "yes, you still need this."
What are the risks?
Risks include withdrawal symptoms, temporary symptom increase, and psychological adjustment. We discuss all risks during informed consent before any changes.
Do you prescribe controlled substances?
Yes, when clinically appropriate. I have DEA registration and follow all applicable regulations.
What states do you serve?
Currently California only. The patient must be physically located in California during telehealth visits.
